Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Luke 12:6-7

step 3: let your nails be a reminder

it can be easy to feel small in a big world. but Jesus reminds us that His attention is never scattered—He notices even the sparrows. if He cares that deeply for them, how much more does He care for you? every detail of your life matters to Him. He knows the things that weigh on your heart, He has collected your tears in a bottle, the dreams you carry, and even the exact number of hairs on your head. that’s not distant or general—it’s deeply personal. this is the same God who names the stars (Psalms 147:4 and Isaiah 40:26). Jesus is near enough to care about the details of your day and big enough to carry your mountains. so when fear or doubt tries to creep in, let this be your reminder that you are fully seen, loved and known.

I want to share a very intimate testimony of where I saw just how much God knows us, loves us and cares for our hearts. I went to dinner with my husband and some friends, we spoke kindly with our waiter and had the opportunity to pray for him before we left the restaurant. as we prayed, I felt like I was supposed to ask about his 8 year old daughter (I had never met this man before and knew nothing of his personal life). He became emotional, we learned that he and his wife lost their daughter and she would have been 8 years old. in this raw moment, we encouraged him and his wife that the Lord knew the weight of their loss that Jesus loved them, knew them and cared for them both so much.

let me share another testimony... I was at church and during worship I asked a 19-20 year old girl I had never met before if I could pray for her. I asked if she needed prayer for anything specifically, she didn't have any requests. so I began to pray and I felt the Lord show me a very detailed picture of an outdoor patio, I described what I saw to the girl- the furniture, the plants, the pots... the girl began to weep. it turned out that I had perfectly described her Grandma's backyard where they often sat and spent time together. her grandma had recently passed and she was really struggling with the loss and feeling alone in her pain. Jesus showed her she was not alone and that He knew her sorrow.

okay, one more testimony because it's just too good! I was volunteering at a non-profit called Clothes for Hugs, when I had a woman come by and ask if we had size 7 tennis shoes. my heart sank, I knew we didn't; I knew the inventory like the back of my hand. but I felt the Lord encourage me to look anyways. so, I told the woman to wait while I checked in the back. I looked through bins and told the Lord "God, you and I both know there are no size 7 tennis shoes in this entire building." and just as I was about to give up, a woman unexpectedly pulled up with three 30 gallon trash bags full of just size 7 tennis shoes, flats, loafers, heels. not only did God supply the woman in need but He generously gave her options! He provided more than she even needed! she had the opportunity to not just take what was available but she got to shop for a pair of shoes she loved. couldn't we fill thousands of books about the ways God has shown us He knows us?

As you prepare to paint your nails, read these verses. and let this nail polish color be a reminder that you are fully known.

Psalm 139:13 - For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

Psalm 139:2-4 - You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, LORD, know it completely.

Psalm 139:14 - I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Matthew 6:8 - "...for your Father knows what you need before you ask him"

1 Peter 5:7 - "Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you"

Psalm 86:15- But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
