Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever. Psalm 118:1
step 1: read the devotional
step 2: listen to the worship playlist while you paint your nails
step 3: let your nails be a reminder
do you remember the story of when Jesus fed 5,000 people (matthew 14:13-21)? Jesus had five loaves of bread, two fish and 5,000 hungry people. if I were there it would be easy to feel stressed, stretched thin, lost, afraid, anxious. you might even feel alone, unseen, and like you don’t have enough. but Jesus takes the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, He gives thanks.
Jesus took His eyes off of the problem and Himself, He looked up to heaven.
He didn’t grumble, He gave thanks.
5,000 hungry people would give you a pretty good excuse to say “golly, when I am going to get a break? I am so tired. why can’t you take care of yourselves for just a second.” but Jesus didn’t say that. He looked to heaven and gave thanks.
the disciples gave the food to all the people and all were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve baskets full of left overs.
do you feel anxious, lacking, or stretched thin?
where in your heart do you need to start thanking God instead of stressing?
where in your heart, do you need to look to heaven instead of looking to your own strength?
practice today. trade a complaint for thanks.
