I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies. Psalm 18:3

step 3: let your nails be a reminder
He is worthy. He is worthy of our time, our adoration, and our gaze.
revelation 4:11 says "worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they existed and were created."
psalm 145:3 encourages us to worship Him "great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable."
it can be easy to think of ourselves and protect what comforts us temporarily more than the Lord. and that's why it is important to spend quiet time seeking Him and getting in the Word daily. because when we remind ourselves of who God is and how worthy He is, it helps us purify our thoughts, motives, actions, and how we talk.
in Luke 10:38-42, we read about two sisters (mary and martha). they invited Jesus over to their house and during the entire visit, martha was "distracted serving" while mary sat at Jesus' feet and listened to His teaching. martha got really upset and said to Jesus "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to serve alone? tell her to help me." and Jesus answered this way... “martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”
martha's problem wasn't serving, it was distraction. martha was busy doing something good but missing time with Jesus. He is worthy of our time. sometimes sitting with Jesus feels like swimming upstream because we live in a culture that rewards productivity over presence. quiet time with the Lord needs to be first because everything flows out of our relationship with God.
where in your heart, do you need to lay down your anxieties and look at Jesus?
where in your time, do you need to honor the Lord?
what do you need to lay down to be able to pursue Jesus?
let this be your reminder to that He is worthy and you are so loved.
